Acupuncture Therapy And Medical Device Consultants
Unconventional health therapies are used throughout the United States and one of the most popular and widespread is the ancient art of acupuncture. This method is already a popular and widely accepted alternative pain relief method. This article tackles the various effects of the method and discusses the proof that it is an effective and safe alternative treatment.
Acupuncture was developed by the Chinese and has now spread all over the world. The estimated number of Americans who have tried acupuncture is 15 million. People have used it to treat a variety of ailments since ancient times. And now the West is really catching on.
‘Vital energy’, ‘energy balance’ and ‘energy imbalance’ is how acupuncture works. As a traditional doctor would look at blood flow and nerve endings, an acupuncturist looks to see how the ‘vital energy’ flows through the body.
Acupuncture has been named as an alternative pain relief method by the World Health Organisation. The FDA regulated acupuncture needles as a medical device. And in 1997, a National Institutes of Health panel found acupuncture to be an acceptable treatment for many pain conditions. When manufacturers want to produce acupuncture needles they need to use medical device consultants who will be able to comply with the necessary regulations.
Modern studies have revealed that acupuncture stimulates one or more of the signalling systems, which under certain circumstances, can increase the rate of healing response. This may be sufficient to cure a disease, or it might only reduce its impact (alleviate some symptoms).
It is also no surprise that some rheumatologists recommend acupuncture to be used alongside more conventional treatments. Some patients even use acupuncture on themselves.
Unlike conventional medicine for pain relief, there are no side effects or addictive tendencies when acupuncture is used. Quite often, a sense of relaxation and well-being occurs during and after treatments. While undergoing therapy for one ailment, other problems may resolve concurrently.
Needles are inserted into different parts of the body in a safe manner. The instruments used to penetrate the skin are either pre-sterilized and disposable after a single use, or disinfected and sterilized in an autoclave, as surgical and dental instruments are, after each use.
Although most evidence supporting acupuncture can be dismissed as anecdotal, trials have been done where acupuncture does show a pain relieving effect above placebo.
