Sunday Markets : Relax While You Hunt For That Special Something
You wake feeling alive and well rested and now you are on your way to your most favorite place in town. Yes it’s the flea market. You have your comfortable shoes on and your senses are well tuned to get that special item or that exquisite hand made dress you were hoping to lay your hands on.
Maybe you are looking for bargain items to redo a room. No matter what the reason, you will find it at more than one market. There are treasures that most people will scoff at, but you know the value of a good buy. Many people say that flea markets are boring because they just have a few items and the same old items every Sunday. This is not true, and if you venture in other towns you can find anything from fabulous fashion jewelry to grandma’s old mantle piece clock.
They are not just places where you can browse around in, they are also great rendezvous for neighbors or friends. You will always find something to eat or drink from a stall or from someone’s trailer, neatly decorated and offering real homemade pie.
If you love people-watching, then this is the place to be. You won’t find it strange to bump into a celebrity or two or just your town’s mayor and his wife. Look out for the odd biker with his black helmet and leather outfit as well. You will also notice the more serious shopper being the antique hunters and professional bargain hunters who all want to buy up the treasure before you get there.
Many housewives will attest that they find really good kitchen utensils that are almost new, but at a fraction of the cost you would pay in a store. Things like a hamilton beach food processor can be bought for a cheap price.
A flea market or as many also call them open door markets, can be held on a Saturday or a Sunday. Usually the norm is a Sunday, because it is a day where the whole family is likely to be together. They are sometimes held once every month or fortnightly. Some towns have standard flea markets which are open daily from Monday to Sunday and on public holidays as well.
You will find many antique items being sold at flea markets as well. These are mostly from dealers who exhibit their pieces apart from their stores. Art dealers and bargain hunters will all get their pretty early so as to scoop up that rate vase or magnificent coffee table first, so best is to get their early.
