How to make moroccan tea and serve them with moroccan tea glasses
Moroccan tea a staple of moroccan lifestyle and home decor theme. The tea ceremony is one of the most joyable aspects of Moroccan hospitality as there is no pre-requisite as to whom you serve tea. Moroccan tea is a delicious combination of gunpowder green tea and fresh mint. This tea become even more delicious, however, if the traditional ceremony precedes it. Tea is considered a gift, and you should consider it an honor if you ever find yourself in a Moroccan home, partaking of their amazing hospitality.
- Step 1 : Present the guest a small flask, containing water and orange flower. This water is used to wash your hands, and sometimes even to flavor the tea
- Step 3 : Bring out two silver trays, which are covered in muslin cloths. One tray should hold tiny tea glasses, and a silver-plated teapot. The other should have a sugar bowl, a loaf of sugar, a little copper hammer, a dish containing fresh mint leaves, and a wooden box containing the tea.
- Step 3 : Pour a small amount of boiling water into the teapot, and swirl it around gently (to warm the pot). Add the tea (which should be gunpowder green), and some mint. Shake the pot vigorously to rinse the ingredients, and discard the water.
- Step 4 : Break pieces from the sugar loaf with the small copper hammer, and add these broken pieces to the pot. Add sugar liberally.
- Step 5 : Add more boiling water to the pot, and let it steep for approximately 4 minutes.
- Step 6 : Pour tea into the glasses. The tea is poured from high above the glasses themselves: this aerates the tea, and generates a pleasant froth on its surface. You then actually pour the tea back into the teapot, and decant the whole mix for a second time, further aerating the tea.
- Step 7 : Serve the tea, while still piping hot. If it is winter, or if mint is unavailable, shiba (fresh wormwood) can be used in its place.
