How to drink Yerba Mate???? plzzz helpppp I need a clue!?
ok, so I want to impress this Argentine girl at work, I asked her out and she said yes, but I should of stoped there, I made her think that I’m a regular mate drinker, and after dinner we can go back to my place and I’d fix her a Bombilla of Mate.
So I have everything I need, the metal straw, the cup, and the mate.
I have been practicing, and I always get the tea particles in my mouth, is my straw broken? or is that how it is drunk? I have a small bombilla, am I putting too much mate in the cup? is the water hot enough? I can put sugar or honey?

It’s not uncommon to get a little bit of leaf in your mouth but if it happens to you all the time then you should consider trying a different bombilla – i.e. maybe he holes in the filter are too big.
Also you could try switching to a different type of yerba as the leaf and stem size varies with different brands. i.e. “canarias sin palo” has a very small cut whereas “amanda sin palo” has the leaves cut a little bigger. If you drink “yerba con palo” then there are bits of stem mixed in with the yerba leaves.
Yes, you can add suger or honey. Personally I prefer drinking mate without sweeteners (i.e. amargo)
