Hotels In Egypt And Top Ancient Attractions
Egypt has been luring visitors for many years now with its magnificient monuments and mysterious ancient sites. These are complemented by the multitude of restaurants, shops and hotels in Egypt. It won’t be hard to locate just the right accommodation and conveniences to go with it, but deciding which of the vast array of sights to see may be more difficult. 1. Pyramids of Giza and the Mighty Sphinx
This complex on the outskirts of Cairo consists of the three pyramids of Giza, often referred to as the ‘Great Pyramids’: Khufu, Kafhre and Menkaura. Also located here is the famous ancient half lion, half human creature: the mighty Sphinx. An evening sound and light show offers a quirky approach to education, with a commentary on the history of Egypt and its pyramids by the Sphinx itself.
2. The Valley of the Kings
The famous tomb of Tutankhamun, also known as King Tut, was discovered at this ancient burial site for Egyptian royalty near Luxor. The Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple are two of the sites that can be toured here, while visitors can learn more about the art of creating a mummy at the Mummification Museum.
3. Abu Simbel
These temples were built by Pharaoh Ramesses II to commemorate his beautiful Queen, Nefertari. Two 20 metre tall statues of Ramesses II at the temple entrance are among the most notable features. Taking a cruise from Aswan is an excellent way to enjoy both Abu Simbel and the Nile River in one holiday experience.
4. Cairo
The city of Cairo is home to a population of 5 million and a wealth of attractions along with it. From mosques, Coptic churches, and bazaars to the world’s oldest university, there is plenty to see. The Egyptian Museum, meanwhile, boasts over 120,000 artifacts from Egyptian history and visitors can also marvel at a fascinating exhibit of King Tut’s treasures, including his famous solid gold death mask. There are plenty of good quality Egypt hotels in the city that can also be used as a base for exploring the surrounding area if desired.
5. The Nile River
Take a Felucca sailboat along the Nile River for incredible views and an unforgettable experience. This is a journey that people have been making for centuries. Holidaymakers can enjoy an evening cruise or take longer journeys, stopping off at various cities along the river. Staying at one of the river’s ‘floating hotels’ is a great way to enjoy the Nile and all its beauty, while experiencing the best that Egypt hotels have to offer.
