Exploring Cape Town
South Africa is a country at the vey southernmost part of the African continent protruding into the Indian and Atlantic Oceans; often a challenge for sailors who try to sail around it. Archeologists been learning about the evolution of mankind in South Africa and they have found that it is one of the oldest on Earth. The biodiversity and flora and fauna in some of South Africa’s regions, including the semi-arid plateaus, bush, and sea shore are some of the most fascinating in the whole continent. The nation itself has a democratic government, thrives on diversity, and is a very advanced country with the spirit of conventional Africa!
Take walks along the truly sensational beaches. Get to know whales up close and personal. Take a travel through astoundingly magnificent rocky inlands. Go trekking up mountains which climbs up through the sky.
Perhaps the most effective way of enjoying the natural and unique beauty of this area is to take a travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, following each of the coastal highways by car. Heading to the west coast, the Chapman’s Peak path crosses Sea Point’s urban coast and takes in Clifton’s beaches famed for their natural beauty.

The focus of life in the city bowl is the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. This lively coastal area has a rich history. This working harbor offers visitors the opportunity to take in a spot of shopping at upmarket stores, purchase local crafts at arts markets and even enjoy a play or musical performance at one of the area’s theatres. Two of the main attractions in this part of the city are: the Telkom Exploratorium and the fascinating Two Oceans Aquarium.
Nearby Robben Island is just a short trip in a boat from the harbour. Historically, the island is one of South Africa’s most important places. Initially home to the Dutch East India Company, or VOC, as a provision depot, it has also seen use as both an asylum and home for ostracised lepers. Eventually the site was controlled by the military. In 1960 the island came under the jurisdiction of the Department of Correctional Services as a prison. It was during this time that – for 20 years – President Nelson Mandela was detained there.
More inland is where there is a lot of untouched wilderness and some native culture; on the other hand the Western Cape and the Coastline is more populated and popular. Cities in South Africa, especially Johannesburg, Durban and Pretoria, are known for their contrast of being located in the African wilderness.
