Decorative serving Dish – mexico – lead concerns?
Last night I ate over at a relatives house and after dinner I noticed that one of her serving plates was a decorative plate. I asked her where it was from, and she told me it was from Mexico. It was a brightly coloured serving dish, and now I’m concerned that I may have exposed my baby to lead (from the glaze).
The food that I ate from the dish was a small serving of veggies with butter. I have no way to know if this plate may have had a lead based glaze.
Should I be concerned over eating a small portion of food served from this dish one time?

It usually takes more than one time of lead ingestion to get lead contents in your blood more than the recommended levels. The scientific community generally recognizes a level of 10 micrograms of lead per deciliter of blood as a threshold level of concern with respect to lead poisoning. To avoid exceeding that level, young children should not chronically ingest more than 15 micrograms of lead per day from consumer products.Therefore, any unnecessary exposure of children to lead should be avoided. In your case, I wouldn’t be worried about it.
You can also get those lead testers online which cost $12-50.00 just to be on the safe side.
