Crucial Warning Signs In Poster Printing And Design
Many people are forming bad habits in terms of poster printing and design. This happens most especially to professional artists who are tasked to print posters all the time for advertising, promotions and other business necessities. It is important for you to know these bad habits and the warning signs which will lead to bad poster printing. So, as a wakeup call for all poster designers out there, here are a few crucial warning signs to look out for.
1. Reliance on templates.
If you find yourself using poster templates too much, you need to count that as a bad sign. While templates are particularly useful for most beginners, as you get used to the design process, templates will only make poster designs look all the same. This will lead to a lot of boring and “formulaic” designs that will not really force you to innovate in your creations. So if possible, try to avoid your reliance on templates.
2. Overuse of borrowed materials.
Another bad sign in poster printing and design is the use of borrowed materials. If you always use those “free” images, fonts and other materials from the Internet, then you are limiting yourself in using only those resources. In fact, sometimes people will tend to overuse these borrowed materials and then their poster printing will look like a rehash of what you see on the Internet. It will lack originality in a way and will not look really fresh or noticeable.
3. Overuse of the same design elements.
You should also watch out for some habits on using the same design elements. Some poster designers might get stuck using the same brush types, custom shapes, colors and stock photographs. While it is understandable that it is good to use these things since you can use them quite expertly, it also affects your designs, making them all look almost alike. So for every kind of design you make for color posters, you should try experimenting with other design elements and not get stuck always to using your usual ones.
4. Overuse of the same effects and filters.
Besides design elements, some people also tend to over use the same special effects and filters. You might have a favorite filter like the “sketch” or “charcoal” filter, or maybe you always like to add lens flare effects. This can all be fun, but using them too much and too often can really mess up your poster printing designs. The best color posters are the ones where the effects are not that noticeable. So dial down the effects and filters and only use them when it is important.
5. Overuse of the same colors.
Finally, lots of people make the mistake in using the same color schemes over and over again for their poster designs. While this may be a signature of some sort, using the same colors will limit your creativity. It is best to experiment with different color schemes so that you can have plenty of options as to what to present. Of course this can also lead the way to more creative innovation when it comes to color poster design.
So there you have it. Watch out for these warning signs and try to correct these bad habits immediately. You will be better off in poster printing and design if you do.
