Teachers helping dyslexic student
Being a teacher is never easy, but it can be even more problems if you have a dyslexic studentin your classroom.
Dyslexia has no dyslexia treatment to help the dyslexics with reading or writing, the only thing that can help is to have the dyslexic student working in their way of thinking.
Here is a list of helpful tips to help you and the students (dyslexia treatment):-
– study at home
Homework is important type learning for students with dyslexia because they have time for preparation of their work, so give the students homework to prepare on a topic before the next class.
– notes
Notes are useful, so teach the students to produce with bullet point, this is good because the bullet points are normally short text and easier to write. Also the student will need to use there memory to understand the bullet point.
– Black board (give notes)
black boards are a nightmare for dyslexics because it involves concentrating to write down and read on a black & write surface. If you use a black or white board please use different colours of pens like red and blue. Also starting to use the board and give the student notes.
– libraury
It is important for dyslexic studen to research on their own, build there own knowledge. This can be tool for for dyslexics to succeed because they build their knowledge and learn how they learn.
– opinion
Its important for you to test the dyslexics knowledge, but asking questions which asks them to give there opinion, this is good because they will have to use their memory to think.
– dyslexia people think in types of pictures
Students with dyslexia will think in pictures so giving work with pictures is good, because
pictures say a 1000 words and also a good method to build knowledge of a whole subject.
– movie
Watching video is good because the dyslexic student can write notes and also use their memory, also pictures say a thousand words and easier to build an understanding.
– work with the internet
The internet is a great tool, so ask your students to research on the internet. Its a great way to build knowledge and fun to do. Its easier for students to read rather than from books.
– not essay writing and report writing
Every students has to write large pieces of work during their education but the easier method is report writing. Its good for dyslexic student because it easier to produce report because if the structure of writing.
– reading outloud in class
Its a dyslexic student worst nightmare to read in front of other students, please do not force a dyslexic student to do this. Nothing worst than having other students laugh at you.
– there are number of dyslexia treatments
Colour lenses in glasses or overlays can help the dyslexic student read better and easier.
Lenses can be red or below, a idea is to find our which colour is best for you, it’s simple
use a number of different coloured pens on a white piece of paper. The colour are most clear
is the perfect colour. This condition is called Asfedia.
