Oaxaca Sale

What is the best beach to visit near Oaxaca City?
Due to an awesome airfare sale, I’ll be with the fiancée in Oaxaca City in August. We both would really like to spend some time at the beach, but I realize from Oaxaca to the coast is a lot farther than it looks. I’d love to know which beach community would be the best to spend a few nights in, keeping in mind that our schedule is a bit tight. How would we get there? I know the road is pretty demanding and I’d be doing all the driving, so if a short flight is available, I could do that. Huatulco? Puerto Escondido? She just wants to sunbathe and the more secluded and affordable the better. Thanks!
Puerto Escondido is a really cool beach, but not really close it would take you between 10 and 12 hours driving to arrive there from Oaxaca City, so the best option you have in my opinion is take a bus, because the highway is a lil bit dangerous. Also Huatulco is a very nice beach, but it is a lil bit more expensive and also a lil bit far away from Oaxca City, like 10 hours driving.
There’s also the possibility to arrive to both places by plane, with a company called Aerotucan, this way it would take you less than an hour the trip, but it would be also more expensive.

Blind Troubador of Oaxaca $13.18 He is somewhat of an enigma to the Oaxacans. Señor Cruz apparently sings for pleasure rather than for profit. Once a week he comes to the portales or sidewalk cafe that borders the city square and sings his songs for his many local friends. The occasional peso he charges is less than the usual fee of the mariachi, the street musicians of Mexico and would hardly keep him in guitar strings. “Alon… |
