Why is the jade considered lucky in Chinese culture?
My mother gave me a genuine jade necklace for my birthday, [and you can tell 'cause it looks ancient.] My history teacher was discussing the value of objects from another culture, and jade came up. He related it to Chinese culture, and I’m an American-born Chinese, so I have no knowledge of most of the roots of my parents’ home country. Anyone who knows care to share?
Jade has nothing to do with Luck in Chinese culture, but is said to be able to protect the person from the attacks of devil or from getting scared.
I also have heard that, when a person carry the jade long enough on the body, if the jade starts look vibrant, the jade could have a special power to bring luck to that person.
