Aloha Airlines Succumbs To Bankruptcy
The new millennium has been proven as very difficult for airline companies. Most of them have reorganized many times to be able to cut costs; a few of them have had to file for bankruptcy. However some of the larger airlines have survived bankruptcy and so are doing (relatively) well now, smaller airlines failed to fare so well. Aloha Airlines is probably the smaller airlines that failed to manage to survive within the difficult economic times and eventually was push to shut down in what is arguably the foremost famous Hawaii bankruptcy ever.
A Storied Company
Aloha Airlines was initially established in 1946 by one man with one plane. His perspective would have been to create an airline that would connect Hawaii, the mainland USA, and China. Although his vision was not ever fully realized (the airline not ever did travel to China), it became the most popular airline for both inter island flights as well as trips towards the mainland US. Over the path of the company’s existence, the Aloha Airlines fleet grew from the single plane to 22 different planes during the time the doors closed down.
Not able to Retain the Doors Open
Unfortunately, the 2000s weren’t friendly to Aloha airlines. Already pressured by much larger airlines and rising fuel costs, the scares of September 11 delivered what can ultimately be considered a crushing blow for the small airline, the business initially filled out for bankruptcy in December of 2004. After having a restructuring to aid cut costs and enhance efficiency, the airline operated for another four years before filing for bankruptcy one very last time in 2008. This time it was a fatal blow. The airline discontinued all operations by the end of March 2008.
One More Lawsuit
