Much more research is needed in order to date these bottles, but it is generally now agreed that glass and metal, bottles were the earliest materials to be used. The problem is that the glass was used during the entire period of snuff bottles, up to date.
The Chinese had little use for the glass until the 17th century, mainly because of their high qualifications exquisite porcelain. They had no glass windows, contributing to semitransparent paper. We are not sure that the glass has been used centuries ago in China, but this, of course, they met the Europeans in good time for snuff bottles.
They saw it as a valuable material and succeeded in producing very fine works of art. Sometimes, they treated her like a stone and carved bottles from a single piece, or they blew the glass renewal into molds. Creating many unusual bottles of snuff from a transparent white as the background color for the overlay work.
