You Can Still Have Hip Clothing on a Budget
We all want to look great, and having great clothes definitely brings out the best in our looks and attitudes. Having great style doesn’t have to cost a fortune nor does it have to come straight from the runway. Don’t buy a piece merely because Hollywood says it is stylish.Face it, not everyone has that kind of money to spend on clothing which in all reality will be out of style next year. Fortunately for the less than rich, it is possible to look great on a budget and still have money left over for important things like food and electricity.
The first thing to do is to add items into our wardrobe that aren’t going to go out of style in three months, much less three years. Tanks, T’s and other such essentials are always going to be in style. Buy good quality in the basics the first time and you will only have to replace them every few years as they wear out. Don’t forget a quality pair of basic jeans, these are a must. Between these shirts and jeans, that gives us a solid foundation from which to dress out and accessorize for the day to day and we can use that same foundation to work from when it comes to those evenings out as well.
Once we have the basics, then we can add to those in a multitude of ways. To start with, add a layer to those classic tanks and t’s by adding an over-shirt for casual occasions, or maybe a nice cardigan or cashmere pull-over for cooler weather, or layer out with a nice down jacket for cold weather. You’ve already purchased the essential elements, and by adding some simple and inexpensive items like these gives you a wardrobe of great clothing that will always be trendy.
Try swapping out your jeans for something a little dressier. A nice black skirt will go with anything in the “trendy” part of your closet and adds a little class. You should also have a “LBD” or little black dress as your go to for a dressier evening. Also, having several pairs of shoes ranging from the simple sneaker all the way through those sky-high spikes, and accessorizing your outfits with different groupings of jewelry will make what would appear to be a limited wardrobe into an endless kaleidoscope of clothes and accessories.
By starting off with the “basics” for your clothes, blacks and whites, then adding favorite colors as the budget allows means you can always look good. Basic elements in a wardrobe will allow you to build on the foundation. Adding different elements to the wardrobe that keeps it ‘fresh’ and ‘new’ each year doesn’t mean you have to change out everything. Simply change out those parts that need updating. This seems to be the easiest way to add the hip and cool to your style while keeping your basics. You can bring in the latest trends from this year while maintaining your budge.
