Beware When Borrowing A Cup Of Sugar.
When possible you should always keep your sugar stocked. Avoid the sitcom situation of having to go and borrow a cup of sugar. While a nice excuse to meet a new person, you stand to learn more than you bargained for. You could potentially find out more than you ever wanted to know.
The biker that is next door to you has always had a menacing sort of image. In favor of finishing what you started on without having to venture out to the store, you decide to give it a shot. As you step into his living room you wonder if this is really the same guy. The furniture is top of the line. There is a sophisticated home theater system. The lighting is pouring from beautiful Tiffany lamps. To top it all off you notice a Disney scrapbook on the coffee table. The biker image is shattered.
Nearby there is a young party-goer. This is a kid that has never been fully acquainted with the morning hours. You are convinced that the interior of his home will be decorated with beer bottles and empty pizza boxes. Instead you find a classy couch, no sign of a television, and a stack of suspense books.
Little old ladies never hold surprises, right? You enter the home expecting walls covered with pictures of grandchildren, and needlework lying about somewhere. Instead you find quite an electronics set up, with snow boarding trophies cluttering the room. She excitedly tells you that she has been learning about the history of the LED backlight and asks if you would like to hear about it over some coffee.
The seemingly mild mannered housewife is sure that have some sugar that you can borrow. You are caught completely off guard by the full weightlifting set in her living room. While always polite before, she is suddenly quite annoyed at being interrupted.
The prissy young woman may not be the friendliest person on the block, but she could not be hiding much. Then you see that she has been working on putting together a homemade fireworks display for a local grunge band. She giggles a little as she quickly explains away the smudge of gun powder on her nose. This is the woman you had an all frills image of just moments ago.
Being friendly with your neighbors is wonderful. Helping each other out is part of what being in a neighborhood is all about. There is such a thing as too much information. You may soon find that what people present to the outside world is not what they are really like at all.
