San Francisco Giants – A Squad With Ton’s Of Back Ground
With baseball being one of the most popular sports in the American culture, there is no real surprise in seeing that there are many followers on a global scale. The most followed league in America is the Major baseball league. Almost each state in the United States is known to have at least one team that represents them in this particular league. There are some states such as California that have more than one baseball team which is part of the Major baseball league.
One of the teams that are based in California and which is part of the Major baseball league is the San Francisco Giants. Even though they the San Francisco Giants are known to represent the state of California, history shows that they have not always been based there. The San Francisco Giants is one of the oldest established teams in baseball history. They came into existence in the year 1883.
It wasn’t until the season that took place in 1957 that the team was referred to as the San Francisco Giants. Before this time period, the team was based in New York. As a result, the team was referred to as the New York Giants. Under this name, the team was able to win seventeen pennants and five World Champions. There were many famous players that were part of this great era of success. Some of the players that played a major role in the victories included names such as Willie Mays and Bobby Thomson.
Even though the team was known to have quite a lot of success during their stay in New York, this winning streak stopped once they moved to California. The San Francisco Giants have not won a World Championship since they moved to their current state. This in effect makes the San Francisco Giants the team with one of the longest droughts of silverware. Even though this is the case, the San Francisco Giants are known to have a remarkable record of having the most wins in baseball history.
Unlike most other team uniforms, the San Francisco Giants uniform is quite attractive due to the bright color combination that it has to offer. The current home uniform for the San Francisco Giants has a combination of the following colors; black, orange, white and gold. The trousers and shirt are white with gold outlining. The socks and cap on the other hand are a combination of both orange and black.
The away kit on the other hand is pretty much the same. The trousers and shirt however are grey in color. The other combinations of colors for the away kit include black and orange. The San Francisco Giants do have an alternative kit as well that is hardly ever used.
The logo of the San Francisco Giants is quite popular amongst fans worldwide. The current logo has a baseball in the background with the word “Giants” that runs across it. The San Francisco Giants also have a cap insignia that is made up of two letters; “S” and “F”. The letters are orange in color giving it a nice contrast with the black cap.
Due to the high demand, the San Francisco Giants have recently launched an online web store on their official website. The San Francisco Giants are currently offering all their uniforms on the web store.
