How To Find A Good Motivational Speaker
It can be of little surprise that people admire such world historical figures such as John Lennon or Disraeli. They were inlfuential people, who generated interest in to causes and thus provided a and focal point for ideologies that altered human affairs.
It’s worth thinking about for a minute to ask exactly why it was that turned them into such inspiring figureheads - and why they are vilified or quoted years or even centuries after their deaths.
The answer: speech.
It is obvious that hundreds of people have made massive contributions to various fields with just as much influence as figures like. Their influence can have manifested itself in many forms: genius organisers or administrators, visionary with vision ahead of their time. It is comparatively rare for these people to reach out beyond their spheres to inspire others. It is no exaggeration to say these luminaries are sometimes isolated and cannot reach a broad constituency. Arcane theories could make a massive difference to a particular industry, but be of too narrow interest to resonate more widely.
So what defines the great ‘doers’, and {the people|those} who those whose name comes to us through history? Communication. And a large part of that is down to the power of the spoken word.
If Martin Luther King hadn’t been such a powerful public speaker, the civil rights movement would have given up the ghost. Today King is most familiar to us for his soaring ‘I have a dream speech.’ That it still seems so powerful is testament to the inspiring and moving nature in which words and speech interface to combine greatness.
Another great example is Churchill. His idiosyncratic inability to stop tinkering with the army’s plans, combined with an overweaning belief in ‘destiny’ could have been disastrous to Britain during the second world war. Those handicaps are forgotten today and he is often placed in the pantheon of great leaders. Largely this is down to his oration – which were so inspiring that lifted the people he to something beyond what most thought they were capable of.
A great speaker can incentivise and inspire people to greater achievements. The staid surroundings of business migh not be a natural forum for oratory, but a great motivational speaker can set the event alight with energy and enthusiasm.
