Why are Americans so antique in using units like Fahrenheit?
Why do they not use the SI-system as in all countries where they speak other than English (derivates)?
I dont know, people are just slow to change I guess. Also, there isnt much reason for the “average” person to change, they can get through life quite easily not know a single metric unit.
The United States has through redinfined its standard measurement system in terms of metric equililents and is suppose to use metric measurement on official stuff.
Congressed passed the Metric Conversion in 1975 to promote the use of the metric system in the US.
I love the SI system, it is great. I am get a little agrivated when I have to explain how many pounds are in a kilogram to people, and I think in Liters.
However, I still like to use miles per hour for speed.
