Mothers Day Is A Chance To Honor Mothers Around The Globe

In spite of it seeming as if the Christmas holidays were just here, we’re already coming up on Mother’s Day in the U.S: It will occur on the second Sunday in May. But U.S. residents aren’t the only ones who celebrate this special day on that Sunday. Canada, Samoa, Chile, Philippines, China, Liechtenstein, Singapore, Cuba, Papua New Guinea, Curacao, Cyprus, Turkey, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Ethiopia and many others do too.

That’s likely why, beginning in March or April, so many folks go online looking for vintage Mother’s Day cards, Mother’s Day clip art, printable Mother’s Day certificates and other related items. Not all children have the money to buy Mothers Day gifts, invitations and decorations, so these freebies can come in pretty handy. In reality, though, the Mother’s Day clip art, printable invitations, cupcake toppers and vintage cards can require a bit of talent to use. So those might be a little more difficult to use unless you’re a crafty type person. The Mother’s Day gift certificate templates are a piece of cake though. Just print, sign and give them to Mom.

Not All Mother’s Day Celebrations are in May
There are also many other countries that celebrate Mother’s Day, just not in May. The following locations also have some type of Mother’s Day celebration:

• Greece: February 2
• Norway: The 2nd Sunday in Feb.
• Isreal: It’s celebrated on Shevat 30, which falls sometime between Jan. 30 & Mar. 1
• Georgia (the nation): Mar. 3
• Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Laos, The Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia and Serbia: March 8
• Ireland, Nigeria and the United Kingdom: The fourth Sunday during Lent
• Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Oman, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and many Arab League countries: Mar. 21
• Slovenia: Mar. 25
• Armenia: April 7
• Nepal: April 24 (+/- five days)
• Hungary, Lithuania, Mozambique, Portugal, Macao and Spain: The first Sunday in May
• El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico: May 10
• Paraguay: May 15
• Poland: May 26
• Bolivia: May 27

There are also different versions of Mother’s Day, called Parents’ Day, which is celebrated on May 8 in Albania and South Korea, and The Mothers and Children’s Day, which is celebrated in Mongolia on June 1.

It’s pretty glaring that the desire to honor Mother is a fairly universal calling, given that practically every land on the planet formally honor their moms in some way. It’s heartwarming to know that even people in nations that may seem adversarial to us have the common bond of paying homage to the women who gave them life.
