'Ike Mo'olelo 'O Hawai'i Foundation

E ho 'omau i ka mo 'omeheu Hawai'i.

Motto

E ho'omau i ka mo'omeheu Hawai'i

To persist in the footprints (path) of our Hawaiian ancestors.

Philosophy

'Ike Mo'olelo 'O Hawai'i Foundation (IMOHF) is dedicated to providing opportunities to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture, values, and spirit of aloha, by promoting an understanding of our historical and cultural heritage.  Through its history, we learn about the ways of the early Hawaiians and their influence on its people, and of other cultures that influence Hawai'i, the Pacific Rim Melting Pot model of today. That sharing of such traditional Hawaiian values, such as respect, caring and responsibility is disseminated through the general community by utilizing cultural workshops, and public performances demonstrating our art form in hula, music, language and arts.  The Foundation promotes the ability for many cultures to live together, in harmony celebrating each other’s diversity.

IMOHF is a non-profit organization whose purpose is offering educational material, and teachers of music, language, art, history, and crafts.

Providing a central location of learning where all class activities and items of general knowledge such as: a library of books, tapes, and musical instruments are available to the general community.

Organizing community events that bring visibility and revenue to the Hawaiian community and to share its rich cultural heritage to the public.

Providing scholarships for students to go to Hawai`i to attend Kamehameha School's Hawaiian Exploration Programs annually.

Participating in various fundraising events in support to the Hawaiian and general community.

IMOHF’s goal is to become a Mainland based organization providing children workshops in all of the cultural arts, crafts, and skills of Hawaiian culture and to enrich the meaning of Aloha (love), and Malama (caring), and Pono (righteousness) in the hearts and minds of the youth separated from the islands, either of Hawaiian descent or from another culture and lastly, Lokahi (unity) of all nationalities.
